Statistics from FarmFest 2014

  • DSC_1651 - Version 2-1Over 3400 visitors participated, a 50% increase from 2013!
  • The FarmFest Organic Grain Field Day on Friday drew 30 farmers to learn from organic pioneers Mary-Howell and Klaas Martens and Joel Steigman!
  • 37 sponsors and 97 exhibitors engaged participants, sold wares, educated and entertained kids and adults, and 6 interactive workshops on agriculture and homesteading offered insightful ideas from beekeeping to cold-frame construction.
  • New events at FarmFest included the Fertrell Wool Village with sheep to shawl demonstrations, horseshoeing and blacksmithing demonstrations by Bob Vernon, and a larger Family Arena sponsored by Organic Valley and Wegmans provided fun and educationall activities all weekend long!
  • Local musical groups performing on the EcoVents Stage included Haystack Lightening, Laura Boswell, Myra+Mick+Stetz, Mango West, Sundown Sally, Gene Gibson, Up Texas Chapel Choir, Harold Taddy, The Stevedores, Chris Vipond and the Stanley Street Band, Chris Rattie and the Brush Valley Rumblers, and a special barn dance on Friday with Erin Condo and the Hoofties!

    • Pennsylvania Certified Organic (PCO), a non-profit organization in Spring Mills, PA, in partnership with local and regional organizations, volunteers, and outstanding organic supporters!
    • PCO’s mission statement is: To assure the integrity of organic agricultural products through education, inspection, and certification of growers, processors and handlers.
  • What is FarmFest?

    • FarmFest is a fun, free, community-building event that fosters knowledge of organic agriculture and sustainable living through educational opportunities, local foods, lively entertainment and interactive family activities.
  • Where can I find more information?

    • Lost and Found Items at FarmFest can be picked up at the Information Booth during FarmFest. After FarmFest, items can be found at the PCO Office in Spring Mills, PA or call 814-422-0251.
    • Go Green and bring your water bottle for FREE water refills! There will be water stations around the fair grounds for refills.
    • Bring your lawn chairs or blankets to comfortably enjoy our music, agricultural speakers and entertainment.
